ShoutFILM is a social networking website tailored specifically for film makers of all ages and skill levels. ShoutFILM allows you to add, watch and rate films, write and read reviews, comments and blogs, communicate with friends and keep track of any projects currently in development including your own.

You can earn points on ShoutFILM by contributing in various ways to the site for example uploading projects or films. The six users with the most points from the previous week will be shown on the home page. It is also possible to view overall points rankings by going to the ShoutFILM community and then by clicking the rankings tab on the top left. Here it is possible to view the rankings for both the previous week and overall.

The majority of file formats and codecs are support but we recommend using the codec H.264 and the file format .mov. For more information on recommended compression settings see our video compression/encoding guidelines

At this time we do not allow mobile phone footage to be posted on the site. However as the quality of mobile phone video increases and mobile phones become a more valid media for film production we will look into changing our current stance.

Forum signatures can be a maximum of 150 pixels high and 500 pixels wide.

There is no limit to how many videos users can upload, however all uploaded videos go through a moderation process and if it appears you are spamming the site appropriate action will be taken.

Our rating system works on a 5 point basis using 5 stars with each star providing either half a point or a full point allowing ratings to go up in increments of 0.5. Films however can only be rated after it has been viewed, this is used to prevent spamming.

Yes films can be uploaded without the accompaniment of a trailer. However uploading trailers my result in more people seeing your film as they may not have time to watch the full video but are interested in the premise of the film.

The publicity image (photo, graphic, video still) will be used to promote the film across the site and if chosen will allow your film to be displayed in the main banner of the site as a top film. For a free and easy solution to creating graphics check out GIMP for Windows or Mac.

Yes, you do have to upload both a film poster and a publicity still if you are uploading a film to the cinema. They are not required if you are uploading to the studio, however we feel strongly that it is a good idea to upload at least a poster for the film as it will make your film easier to find for other users.
Film posters need to be 150x215 pixels in size. Publicity stills need to be a as big as possible.

The ShoutFILM studio allows you to follow the production cycle of films currently in development from the writing of the script through to the final touches made in post production. The studio also allows you to post the stages of your own projects, receive feedback from other users and also blog about the development of your films. Finally the ShoutFILM studio is a great way for you and the people involved in your film to stay informed.

The ShoutFILM cinema allows you to watch films, give them a rating, read reviews about other films or your own and also write reviews for films you have seen.

Once you have registered on the site and are logged in you can begin to add films. To do this hover over the 'my profile' button at the top left of the site, a drop down menu will appear, click on 'manage films' this will take you to a page where you can see the films you have already uploaded and also the first step to adding a new film.
Begin by selecting the current status of your film from either, script, pre production, in production, post production or cinema. This will determine weather your film will be placed in the studio or the cinema. After clicking next you will be taken to the main form for adding new films. Please fill out the form in as much detail as possible. After clicking next on the form page you will be taken to a screen that allows you to upload a poster and a publicity still for the film. Finally you will be able to upload the video file for the film if you chose the cinema option from the drop down at the beginning.
The film will then be sent to us for moderation before being uploaded to the site where it can be viewed by you and other users.

Adding a new event is simple. Go to the events tab found at the top right of any page. Then click the add event button. A window containing a short form will then appear, fill in all of the fields then click submit, your submission will then be passed onto us for moderation after which it will be posted on the site.

At this time it is not possible to view films in high definition, we are however looking into this and it should be an viable option for us in the future.

NOTHING! ShoutFILM is completely free to all users. All that is required is a simple and quick registration done via a short form. The registration form can be found on the home page.

To edit your profile hover over the my profile button at the top of the site next to your user icon then click 'edit profile'. Here you can add or edit a number of items from your personal website to your contact information and the roles you undertake whilst producing films. The tabs to the right of the profile window allow you to add or edit your profile picture and edit or delete items from your portfolio.

To edit your account information click account found at the top of the site on the user bar. The 'account' page allows you to edit information such as your name, gender, date of birth and your location as well as letting you set a new password. Using the tabs on the right of the window you can also change your email and privacy settings.

Getting in touch with one of us is easy and there are a couple of ways to do so. Firstly you can go to the bottom of any page on the site and under the ShoutFILM heading you can click 'Contact'. Secondly you can leave a comment on any of our profiles. Either way we will aim to get back to you as quickly as possible.
